Beenleigh State High School Concert Band

The Concert Band is our largest music ensemble in the school, with a range of woodwind, brass and percussion players ranging from ages 11 to 25+ years old.  This group of young musicians is a combination of current students, ex-students, parents and teachers, and regularly performs at school functions, competitions and community events.  The Concert Band has been awarded GOLD three years in a row at the Brisbane Schools Band Festival, and our players regularly represent our school at a state level through their involvement in SHEP (State Honours Ensemble Program, Griffith University) and the Creative Generations Awards for Excellence in Instrumental Music (formally MOST).

The Concert Band assists in complementing our flourishing Instrumental Music program, and students will benefit from playing music with other like-minded students in a relaxed, fun yet productive environment.

Rehearsals are from 3.00pm until 4.00pm on Tuesday afternoons in the Music Block and there are no on-going costs involved.

Curriculum – Excellence Programs

Instrumental Music Program

At Beenleigh High School we offer tuition on brass, woodwind, percussion and string instruments from year 7-12 as part of the world class Education Queensland Instrumental Music Program.

Students receive a 30 minutes lessons with a qualified teacher (currently Mr. Elton Farmer B.Mus. Dip Ed. U.Q) each week and also can borrow an instrument if required for no cost.
