Head of Department – Senior Schooling and VET/RTO Manager – Elissa Birbilis
The BSHS Senior Schooling department aims to support students to make choices for their desired future pathways, provide coaching (AIMs) and enact tracking strategies to assist students with achieving goals and academic success.
Senior Schooling responsibilities include:
- Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) Attainment
- Vocational Education – building scope as a Registered Training Organisation and facilitating external providers both at school and in other locations
- Distance Education – subject offerings
- Tertiary Pathways
- Senior School Assessment processes
Senior Schooling is responsible for overseeing the school's adherence to the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority's (QCAA's) senior schooling policies and procedures. It ensures students have the required knowledge, understanding and access to information to support their senior school journey.
The Head of Department also oversees learning and employment pathways for Years 10-12. They are the contact point for any questions relating to QCE attainment, ATAR achievement, Subject Selection, Subject Changes, Distance Education, SET Plans, and any information related to QCAA records.

Industry Liaison Officer (ILO) - Kirsty Saunders
The Industry Liaison Officer is responsible for advertising and sourcing information relating to TAFE courses, Traineeships, Apprenticeships, Structured Work Placement (Cert II Hospitality - Front of House) and Work Experience, as well as the on-site delivery of Certificate courses run by external RTOs (eg Health Support, Childcare, Construction, Measuring & Sampling).
Guidance Officer - Jade Peardon
Within Senior Schooling, the Guidance Officer works with students to identify study options beyond the end of Year 12. They are the contact point for any questions relating to Special Provisions for the QCS test, QTAC applications, early entry to University programs, study skills and social or emotional support for academic issues.
